If you are having difficulties, please e-mail us.

Once you have decided to inquire about submitting books to us, the next step is to determine if sending us scans is necessary.

The pressing service does not require scans; most of the time the defects in question cannot be ascertained from a scan, and an in-person proscreen is necessary to determine a book's upgrade potential. It is best to simply send these to us directly. There is no need to contact us first. Also, please do not remove CGC comics from their holder prior to mailing. We perform our proscreens through the holder, and will not open it unless the decision is made to move forward with pressing.

Regarding any items considered for our restoration and conservation service, please email us one scan of the front cover and back cover, preferably at 300 dpi resolution or better, and no bigger than 1.5 megabytes in size. Based on the scans we can quickly let you know whether the books are good candidates, plus provide a ballpark estimate of cost and how long the job may take. You're also welcome to forward us links to auctions of books you plan to win and send us.

If you're considering the restoration removal service for a CGC graded comic book, you must first contact CGC for graders' notes to determine the extent and location of the restoration. Next, please email us those graders' notes, and include the information on the CGC label (grade, extent of restoration, A or P, any notes CGC put on the label, and finally the bar code). Based on this we can figure out if removal is possible before you mail it.

Step 2 of 3: Printing the submission form and packing items

When you're ready to submit your items for proscreen, please log into our system to input your comics. If you’re an existing client, your profile will already be in our system, so all you need is your password. If this is your first time submitting, creating your profile for your first submission is easy.

Once you’re in, follow the instructions to enter each of your books. When you’re finished, print your work order and mail a copy with your books to us. As soon as we receive your package, all books will be checked against your work order, and you’ll receive an email confirmation that your books have arrived safely.

Make sure to pack your comics very well to avoid damage in the mail. We suggest wrapping the comics in paper or a plastic bag, and then placing them between pieces of thick cardboard. Place this in a sturdy box and pack paper, bubble wrap, or peanuts all around it. Shake the box afterwards to determine if there is any movement of the pack inside the box. If so, open and stuff in more paper.

We recommend either FedEx or the registered mail via the Post Office for the most secure delivery. While FedEx can be more costly, they are quicker, and they provide a better tracking service. Registered mail through the Post Office, while slower, is cheaper for insuring items, and is the most secure form of shipping in our opinion. If using registered mail, it is a requirement of the post office that all seams on the box are covered with brown tape.

Step 3 of 3: Our Proscreening process and invoicing

Once we receive your package, the proscreen process takes about 5 business days, depending on our workload, the size of your submission, and our show/holiday schedule. Once the proscreen is finished, you will receive an email containing the results for your approval. After we settle on the work to be done, an invoice will be generated and emailed to you. All orders are to be paid upon receipt of the invoice, except for restoration jobs exceeding two months. For these, we require 1/2 payment up front and the other 1/2 upon completion.

For any comics you request to be graded by CGC afterwards, we will mail them directly to CGC for you, and CGC will mail the books directly back to you once graded. The CGC fees and shipping will be included on your invoice unless you have your own CGC account (which you can provide in your profile online). As soon as we ship the books to CGC, you will receive an email notification, and your CGC invoice numbers will be recorded on your invoice online. With these numbers you can track the progress of your books at CGC.

All payments are to be made to Classics Incorporated. If you have any questions concerning the submission process, please email or call us.
