Proscreen Service
Our proscreen service is the first step in determining which service your book may require.
During the proscreen, we check each book for restoration, identify the defects, and assign an estimated grade the book will receive after being serviced.
This information is then provided to you to decide which books you'd like us to work on. The cost is $3 per book, and free for any book over a value of $4,000.
By using the proscreen service, you reduce the risk of wasted CGC fees for books that underperform in grade due to undiscovered restoration or hidden defects. It's also a
great service for double checking your raw comic purchases, especially if you plan on keeping those books in your posession for an extended period of time. There's nothing
worse than discovering, years later, your book doesn't grade the way you thought it would.
For repeat business, the proscreen service also provides a learning curve for CGC grading, which is paramount to building your confidence when you buy raw comics. Our estimates
are just that, estimates--but our accuracy is second to none. You can also count on our expert knowledge of the hobby and the history of comic books to provide you with the
best advice for your books.
Some clients choose to waive the proscreen service once they feel comfortable with their own proscreen ability, which saves them time and money. In
addition to the savings of $3 per book, we are able to process books one week faster when the proscreen is waived. This is ultimately the level many of our seasoned submittors
graduate to once they are comfortable with both our criteria and CGC's grading standards.
Even though we provide the most accurate screening in the business, occasionally very minor restoration is missed. Our guarantee is if we miss restoration on a book, you will receive a $10 credit towards
future work.
